Africa.
Anyone who denies their love for this tune is lying. Flat out lying.
I looked up the video for the first time today. The drummer's gonna appear in a few of my upcoming nightmares for sure.

cockburn '84.
I haven't been able to shake this song from my head for the past...I dunno, maybe 3 months. I think it may have even appeared in a few of my recent dreams. I'm just gonna accept and embrace it until its demise.

Her spelling's atrocious.
I was only little though. Like, really little.
True story. I love my mom for saving almost every picture/painting/poem/story I wrote when I was a child. Between my sister and I, there are cardboard boxes full of them and every now and then she'll pull some out of the stash for us to read. I don't remember most, but this particular story/day I recall oh so vividly.
I remember going outside to hang out with my dad as he was watering the front lawn and we noticed almost everyone out on their porches staring out at something that was going down a few doors down from us. I remember seeing two older men trying to chase down a younger dude who was running down the street with a cut up, bloody fist. (I'm talking blood streaming down his arm and all over his clothes). Turns out he was on some crazy ass drug, got into a huge fight with his dad and just started going ballistic on the street, punching in random windows and doors. Pretty crazy shit for an area that's otherwise pretty quiet. A bunch of police cruisers showed up shortly after to take him away. Two cops stayed behind and gathered up some of the kids, who'd been watching all of this take place, to have a little chat about what went on. You know; the famous talk. About SAYING NO TO DRUGS. "NO. Just say NO. And run away." We even got some dirty SNTD stickers. I thought it would be a great idea to jot down my amazing thoughts and observations on the whole thing.
If I had a blog when I was 5, this is what I would've posted:

Letter to St. Nick.
I didn't get this exact As Seen On TV model that included the cassettes and all. $179.99 was a hell of a lot of money in 1986; probably like 20 installments or something. Santa hooked up a smaller Casio one that didn't include the tapes and I was just as stoked.
I love how I remembered to pencil in a small a desperate "please" on the front.
(Not too sure what the purple Ws?/asses?/boobs? are about.)

varywell.com
VaryWell is a studio founded by two brothers (Jason & Ryan Hickner) who specialize in creating some really cool and innovative software, hardware and funky gadgets. Their flash site was featured on FavouriteWebsiteAwards.com but meh, the design of the actual site didn't really wow me. What did wow me was this amazing old photograph of the two brothers as children, featured on their bio page. I totally fell in love with this shot and everything about it.

Score x 2.
Sundowns are golden.
It's 11:23am my heart rate is finally beginning to level off. I worked until 2:30 in the am last night to finish up a last minute dreadful rush (to be completed today before noon). Mission accomplished, but I'm beginning to hate my job and everything involved in this industry. I hope it's just a stage that'll pass. The rain is making me think of my bed and how I wanna be in it right now.
On a more positive note, a friend just called and pulled through with two seats to tonight's Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers show. Super excited. Tom's been looking pretty beat up lately but I'm sure he'll rock out as always. The crowd should be quite the assortment. :)
