ooooooooooooooooooooooooo weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
This show was incomparable to any other that I've seen before, and better than I imagined it to be (considering that the band is so much older now and the fact that they're touring without Christine!) I also couldn't have asked for a better spot to watch the show, and I must say that although I usually can't stand seeing shows at the ACC because of the piss-poor stadium sound, the sound set up was great and really did the songs justice. As expected, Mick was his usual amazing and quirky self behind his extensive drum kit; lots of fun to watch. John McVie was also fantastic in laying out the rhythmic backbone of the tunes with his signature, funky-ass bass grooves. Lindsey Buckingham is a guitar god! It's insane to know that he's now 60 and still running around on stage, shredding on his guitars like a teenager. Wowzers. And then there's Stevie. (Ohh Stevie, Stevie, Stevie.) She was captivating, mesmerizing and totally stole the show. Her voice is like SILK and really does get better with age (and from what I've read up on her, that's partially because of all she's endured with her nasal/vocal passages due to a past of heavy drug use). I just couldn't get over what was amplifying out of the speakers when she'd step up to her mic to sing. Jesus.
Though the four did carry out great arrangements for songs throughout the entire show, I won't lie and say I didn't wish Christine was up there with the rest of them to offer that other side/sound to this band. Some of the bigger "Christine tunes" felt kind of empty with only and Lindsey and Stevie trading verses where she should have been singing the leads. I will say though, that the background musicians and vocalist did a fantastic job in adding a bit of extra flare and harmony to the songs in replace of her missing spot at the Keyboards. :( Booo. Ah well.
Apparently, a new album is in the works and according to Mick's last words before leaving his drum set for the final time, "THE MAC IS BACK!" If Fleetwood Mac does decide to tour again, go and see them while you still can!!!
(excuse the shakiness and all that jazz)
